Introduction
Our 2026-2031 Strategic Plan
Emmasdale Seventh-Day Adventist Church has developed a Strategic Plan that would run for five years from 2026 to 2031. This document provides the Church with a five-year road map for executing its Commission to win and prepare souls for the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ. God has called the Seventh-day Adventist Church to a prophetic mission and redemptive message of Scripture, as declared by the Three Angels of Revelation 14:6-12. The Holy Spirit empowers and directs the Church in fulfilling this mission and proclaiming this message. God calls each church member to lovingly proclaim the everlasting gospel by using the spiritual gifts He has given them. He also calls each Adventist entity to this mission of restoration and redemption.
Emmasdale Seventh-day Adventist church is committed to faithfully fulfilling the sacred purpose to reach the world and are connected to Christ’s Advent movement that is global in scope, yet local in strategic implementation.
Through the power and authority of the Holy Spirit, the Seventh-day Adventist Church will focus on four strategic priorities: Communion with God, Identity in Christ, Unity through the Holy Spirit, and Mission for all. The Church Board should review and update the progress bi-annually through the outlined monitoring and evaluation program.
Our Mission

Our Story
How It All Began
Emmasdale Seventh-day Adventist church traces its historic birth to the door to door evangelistic visit to the house of Mr Manson Munthali by four evangelists in 1982. Evangelists Ntoloshi, Kakwisa, Liswaniso and Mukoma from Matero SDA church started studying the bible with this senior member of the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) at his home. In the same year of 1982 Mr Munthali was baptized at Mandevu Company which at the time was under Matero SDA church. This was followed by the establishment of a branch under Matero church. The prominent families that met at this branch were the Munthalis, the Moyos and the Musandas under the leadership of Elder Nsama. Matero District was then under the leadership of Pastor Michelo from 1982-1984.
Emmasdale as a Company
In 1985 the believers increased in number and so Emmasdale branch assumed a new status of a Company and Elder Munthali was appointed as the first company leader. Members started holding their worship services at Emmasdale primary school and the church minister then was Pastor Chitambo. The Company continued with Matero church under the leadership of Pastor Partnos Malambo Shimukonka and Pastor Bwani Hamankuli from 1985 to 1990. The main families that worshipped during this period were the Munthalis Mulengas, Kalasas, Salimus, Shikapayas, Cholas, Mudendas, Musandas, Moyos and Kaumas.
Emmasdale as a Church
In 1990 the Company was organised into a Church and it was officiated by Pastor Chansa. Emmasdale was now a new church under the leadership of Elder Munthali as first elder and the pastor at that time was Pastor Hamankuli. Emmasdale church continued worshiping at Emmasdale primary school from 1990-1994. In 1994 the church moved from Emmasdale primary school due to a decree by the government not to allow churches to hold worship service in government buildings. The church worshipped at the Kalasas for two months before they moved to Wisdom school, then later moved to Chaisa Community Hall. Their worship at Chaisa Community Hall was for a short period as they started facing challenges from other people who wanted to use the facility for other functions since it was a community hall, so the church decided to return to the Kalasa residence. The Church was then given a timely offer by the Moyos to worship at their residence from 1994-2001.
Permanent Church Plot
The quest for a permanent place where to erect the temple of God did not fade from the minds of the members. Though this quest proved to be a challenge considering that all seemingly available spaces were either expensive or upon the church identifying one, the local authorities would allocate the place to other individuals or entities. The desire for a permanent plot was earnestly pursued in 2001 when the church plot committee was established by the church. The committee comprised of eight people namely Elder Mukaba Mukaba as Chairman, Br Chrispin Mubanga as Secretary, other members Elder Geoffrey Chomba, Sr Caroline Chola (currently the SID Women’s Ministries Director), Sr Edith Musha (late), Sr Save Hajamba, Elder Emmanuel Mukomango and the late Elder Harrison Mulenga.
In the pursuit for a permanent place, the church once worshiped at a plot which they had applied for years earlier, near United Church of Zambia (UCZ) along Lumumba Road, opposite Matero Boys football ground (Plot 151 of farm 737), but was rebuffed with provoking actions from another church called Hope Church, who occupied some space on the eastern side but decided to annex Emmasdale church’s area to theirs. The committee’s first initial option was to fight for the plot but eventually opted to face the local authority instead and demanded for the audience of the town clerk.
At the council they met with the Director for planning, and then with the town clerk who strongly advised the church to cordially discuss the matter with the area councillor. The committee later met with the area councillor George Kunda. The encounter was heated as he was visibly siding with the Hope Church, he reasoned that the place was too small to accommodate two churches. The committee however, decided to cooperate with him and believed his passionate offer to find them a better plot.
A few months later after much prayer by the members, an announcement about the offer to temporally occupy and worship at a new plot was made on a Sabbath by the plot committee chairperson, which sounded untrue because the new plot was spacious and at a better location. This plot was situated at the former Zambia Railways Ground. When reality settled, the church decided to move but the move was not without any misgivings from other members who felt the change needed to be gradual. The move by the committee was based on the stringent conditions placed in the letter. Some of the conditions stipulated were for the church to immediately erect a temporal shelter and no pit latrine was expected to be erected.
Conclusion
Despite all the challenges, the church had its first service on these grounds on 18th September 2001. Upon moving to the new plot the church immediately embarked on constructing a temporal structure and water borne toilets. The construction for the permanent structure began in 2002 and was dedicated on the 19th July 2015. And the Church attained the District status conferred by Pastor Francis Chabi, the Executive Secretary of Midlands West Conference of Zambia on behalf of Pastor Gabriel Mulambwa, President of the Midlands West Conference of Zambia.
